Because I have been watering the lawn, I have gone from using 3 unit of water (each unit is 72 gallons), to 16! I just don't understand this. The really scary thing is, I haven't got the swap cooler on. That will use way more water, and I will jump up to the excessive use bracket.
The water company dole out the water on three rates. . . the first one is an allotment. Mine is ten units. I pay for 10 units whether I use them or not, (and I haven't, I on average use only 3). That means I am pouring 12 * 72 gallons on the lawn? Doesn't seem right. The only glimmer of good news is that I'm using three less units this year compared to last year.
The next bracket or level is the conservation use rate, and that's 83 cent a unit. The FAQ says that, but I'm being charged 74 cents. I get 6.5 of them, (and I use 6 of that this billing period).
The third level is the excessive use rate, and it's .451 per unit on top of the .83 . That I don't want to pay. I think I will start watering every other day.
This may explain all the dead lawns I see around town. And here I thought it was houses that were being foreclosed on.
